Owners of the Ford GT tend to choose this particular model because they enjoy the thrills of racing and want to push their vehicle to its limits. If you are one of those drivers, then you will truly appreciate the new performance app that lets you track and share your data.
Announced at SEMA
During the unveiling of the Mustang GT4 racecar at the 2016 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Ford announced plans for the new performance app. This app will let you track your data as well as capture video footage of you putting your GT to good use. You can then easily share this data and footage on your social media networks.
How the App Works with Your Ford GT
The application will build on the Ford Sync3 infotainment system and provide a range of vehicle performance data. This will be integrated to include the timing statistics, virtual gauges, and even overlays of your course. You can use the built-in camera in your smartphone to record video of your track exploits, as well.
Why on a Smartphone
While there have been similar systems in the past, they were all embedded within the vehicle itself. This is unique in that it is an application, letting you take advantage of your smartphone’s connectivity and high-quality camera. The fact that it is on a smartphone also makes it much easier to share the statistics and lets you take the program with you wherever you go, including between multiple GT models.
Availability on GT models
You will still have to wait a little longer to get the new Ford app for tracking your GT stats. The automaker will be offering it on the most popular platforms and release it at some point within 2017. Originally, it will be designed for the 2017 Ford GT. Later on, Ford will expand its availability to include other models.
While you have to wait to get this new smartphone app, you can already get behind the wheel of a Ford GT for your drives around Bedford, Virginia. Visit Berglund Ford of Bedford to go on a test drive.
